Thousands packed the carpark next to the Heliport, Hincks Street to see who could meet the challenge of partying for
12 straight hours.
With the crowd showing no signs of slowing down, krosfyah with Edwin Yearwood and Khiomal, hit the stage just after 5 a.m. to bring in daylight and the eve of Grand Kadooment in true Crop-Over style, commanding the audience to juk, stab and just "get on bad".
Performing for a full energy-defying hour, they delivered hit after hit with their package of wuk-up songs including current and old hits such as Pump Me Up, Unleash The Beast, Missing Me and Handle Yuh Business.
For another hour and a half, the band backed artistes including Mikey, Mr Dale and Biggie Irie, Peter Ram, Natahlee and Li'l Rick aka Hypa Dawg, all of whom kept the upbeat tempo going, banishing any thoughts of sleep or fatigue.
As usual, Hypa Dawg, with his antics, lived up to his reputation giving the crowd what they came for; then Edwin and Khiomal were back on stage to end the set in proper fashion.
Not to be outdone, Rupee, who preceded krosfyah also had the crowd jumping, with his hits including Jump, Feet Don't Fail Me Now, and What Happens In The Party among others. He got the crowd going when he modified the lyrics to What Happens In The Party to: "What happens at the party ends up on facebook" a warning for party goers to be careful, since you never know what will end up on the internet.
The Bergerboyz/ FASEntertainment event also included Jabae, Trinidad's soca queen Patrice Roberts, Stabby, Nard and a line-up of others, in what was billed as an event of 40-strong top bands, soca performers and DJ's.
Putting in an appearance was Trinidadian soca sensation Machel Montano. Although he did not perform, he passed through much to the delight of screaming fans, who appeared just happy to see him.
A relatively incident free event; the show paused briefly during Li'l Rick's performance as medics attended to a man who apparently passed out and was taken away for medical assistance.
Not breaking the momentum, things quickly returned to normal with the party continuing in full swing until just after 10 a.m. (ABB)
