Simmons: Kadooment a success
Published on: 8/5/08.

YESTERDAY's Grand Kadooment was lauded as a success by corporate communications specialist at the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), Wayne "Kool" Simmons.

He told the DAILY NATION that the bands were processed quickly, effectively and earlier than usual at the National Stadium with the first band, Walk Holy Band, arriving on Spring Garden around 12:30 p.m and the last band, Roberts Revellers Manufacturing, coming in at 4:45 p.m.

"This was unprecedented considering that we had five more bands than last year," he said during an interview yesterday evening.

Regarding complaints about the new route at Bush Hall and the convergent point at Bank Hall, Simmons said only six bands were drawn to travel along that route, but two additional bands also volunteered to take the route.

He added that this information was not revealed for security reasons, and when asked if the NCF would be reviewing this, he said he did not believe that there would be any changes next year. (MB)
