13-year-old gets 4 CXCs

PORT-OF-SPAIN Most 13-year-old boys spend their free time playing sports, watching movies or playing video games.
Kiran Ramroop is one of the exceptions.
The Form Two student of North Eastern College in Sangre Grande decided instead to challenge himself and sit this year's CXC exam.
He sat four CXC subjects privately: mathematics, English language, computer studies and music.
And Ramroop's ambition paid off when he learnt less than a month ago that he had scored a distinction in mathematics and got passes in the other three subjects.
"I enjoy being successful, that's why I wanted to do it. Also, my father teaches O-Level maths and add maths, and I would go with him when he gave classes and I thought that the maths questions were really easy and I could do them," he told the Express.
Ramroop's parents encouraged their son to take up the challenge and were not shocked with his results.
Ramroop is not only academically inclined. He also loves music, plays six instruments and is learning a seventh, the guitar, with his father, Kumar, who has been a teacher for the past 21 years. (Trinidad Express)
