THE DIRECTOR of Public Prosecution's (DPP) office is to get involved in the case against two teenagers charged in the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) leak.
This was said in both the San Fernando Second and Fourth Magistrates' Courts yesterday, as the two 16-year-olds faced separate magistrates.
The matter was set to start yesterday before Magistrate Melvin Daniel in the Second Court, but he was informed that a State attorney would be appointed to prosecute in the case.
The Presentation College, San Fernando teen, who is charged with having prior knowledge of the mathematics examination when he went to sit the test in May, was represented by attorney Michael Sastree Persadsingh. He will re-appear in court on October 27.
The information of the DPP's involvement in the case was also relayed to Magistrate Alicia Chankar in the Fourth Court, where another Presentation College pupil appeared for having prior knowledge of the English Two examination.
Police prosecutor Robin Rampersad told the court the matter was of public importance and the file had been sent to the DPP.
The pupil was represented by attorney Ronnie Bissessar, who said he had received disclosure for his client.
The young man will reappear on October 30.
Corporal Gilbert Kennedy of the Fraud Squad, who laid the charges, was present for both matters.
