GEORGETOWN – Barbados' opponents in the semi-finals of the WICB Cup One-Day Competition will be the Leeward Islands in a day/night match on Saturday at the National Stadium in Providence.

The Leewards advanced to the semi-finals when they defeated the Windward Islands by 70 runs in their sixth-round match yesterday at Uitvlugt Community Centre.

Leewards also captured a bonus point, as the Windwards, chasing 173 for victory from their allocation of 50 overs, were dismissed for 102 in 43.1 overs.

The victory meant that Leewards ended the preliminary rounds with 16 points – the same as Trinidad and Tobago – but finished in second place on a lower net run rate.

The Leewards had defeated Barbados in the preliminary competition.

In the first semi-final tomorrow, Trinidad and Tobago will oppose defending champions Jamaica.

Trinidad and Tobago completed a 85-run victory in their sixth-round match against the Combined Campuses & Colleges at Bourda yesterday.

In the other game played, hosts Guyana completed a seven-wicket victory over Canada at the Guyana National Stadium. (EZS/CMC)
