The excitement, under the theme Whence We Came is set to begin at about 2:30 p.m. from Redman's Drive (by the General Post Office) where ten floats, one from each parish, excluding St Peter, which will not be participating, will proceed onto Cheapside.

They will then spill into Broad Street to Heroes' Square, pass St Michael's Row onto the Park.

The stage will then be lit up with performances from Dancin' Africa, and many more artistes.

There will also be the traditional blessing of the last canes and the Emancipation Village for all to visit.

Minister of Culture Steve Blackett will deliver the feature address followed by the crowning of the King and Queen of the Crop, Grantley Hurley and Philomene Stuart.

There will also be a Caribbean feast to delight the palates of those attending, with food from across the region including Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Guyana and St Lucia.

Celebrations are to continue into the evening with the Sunset Concert, at which eight-time and defending calypso monarch Red Plastic Bag is scheduled, but this has not been confirmed. (TM)
